Teachers are committed to the integration of technology in education, as long as it is followed by a methodological change and better ICT training for teachers.
Increased student motivation and the ability to customize content are the main advantages of technology for education.
The progressive integration of technology in education calls for a reflection about how this process is unfolding.
In order to learn the opinion of the teaching community regarding the status of ICT in the classroom and identify potential improvements in technology for education, Blinklearning, in collaboration with the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid, Educación 3.0 and Enter.co magazines, has conducted its 2nd Survey on the use of technology in the classroom.
The online study was conducted between 19 and 30 May 2016, and 740 teachers from Spain and Latin America replied. Respondents stem from public, private and semi-private education institutions, ranging from kindergarten to university.

Main conclusions
- 93% of participating teachers recommend starting a digital project, but always accompanied by a methodological change.
- The main challenges posed by the use of technology in the classroom are the lack of teacher training in the use of ICT (63.6%) and Internet connectivity in schools (61.5%).
- Ability to customize content according to the specific needs of students and increased student motivation are the main advantages of technology in education.
- 79% already took up new educational methodologies. Collaborative Learning, Project-Based Learning and Skills-Based Learning are the most popular.
- Asked about students’ academic deficits, teachers said reading comprehension (84%) is the biggest educational challenge.
- Although only 19% of teachers reported the use of technology as an academic deficit of students, a large percentage agreed on the need to strengthen digital skills training (70%) and responsible use of the Internet (57% ).
